Module 1: Total Wellness
What is total wellness? Total wellness is the overall health of your body. There are three different types of wellness that make up your total wellness. Those being your Social Wellness, Mental/Emotional Wellness, and Physical Wellness. Social Wellness is how you interact with people in different situations. Mental/Emotional Wellness is how you think, act, and feel in situations. Physical wellness is how you take care of your own body regularly.
Social Wellness
Social Wellness is the ability to understand and interact with other people around you. Having strong social wellness is important because you would be able to create opportunities for yourself, and others to have an enjoyable life.
Over the years, peoples' social wellness became weaker because of the internet. People can isolate themselves and still communicate with others. People today are being exposed to fewer in-person interactions. However, you can still improve your social wellness. A few ways to improve your social wellness is to:
1. Take care of yourself
2. Understanding your strengths and weaknesses and improving your weaknesses
3. Not judging others before understanding their situation
4. Being a good friend by spending time and listening to them
5. Take responsibility for mistakes.
6. Staying committed to what you are committed to. Do not stop working on something you are committed to, expressly if you know you will be benefitted from it later on or, in the end.
Building and Sustaining Relationships
It is important to make and sustain relationships with others. In today's world, the ability to interact with other people has increased, thanks to the internet. However, in-person interactions have decreased. A few ways to maintain a healthy relationship is to

Mental/Emotional Wellness
Mental Wellness is you being comfortable with the situation you are currently in. Emotional Wellness is how you react to different events that happen in your life.
Throughout your life, you are going to encounter situations that will make you uncomfortable.
Three Stages of Stress
The alarm Stage is where people decide if to stay and fight the stress, or to leave the situation.
The resistance Stage is when your body moves on from the alarm stage. This happens when the person decides to stay in a stressful situation. Your body will use up a lot of energy in this stage and eventually, you won't feel stressed anymore
The exhaustion Stage is when the situation has lasted over a long period of time. This is when your body can not deal with the stress anymore.
Managing Stress
It is important to know how to manage your stress. Some ways to manage your stress include:
1. Tell yourself that you will be okay in the end
2. Focus on what matters most to you
3. Organize your priorities and finish the most important ones first
4. Create a schedule that will help you manage your time with all of your activities
Defense Mechanisms
Defense Mechanisms are unconscious actions that are used by people that protect people from things they do not want to think or deal with. There are many different types of defense mechanisms such as Denial, Escape or Fantasy, Rationalization, Projection, Repression, Identification, Displacement, Regr3ession, Compensation, and Sublimation.
Stress Eating
Stress eating can be in the form of under or overeating. Undereating has negative effects on the body. It can cause nutrient deficiencies. Undereating can also cause fatigue to the body. Overeating also has negative effects on the body. Typically sugary and foods high in fat are consumed. This can even make the stress even worse. Eating a lot of sugar can cause you to absorb fewer nutrients.
